In my opinion this doesn't come across as if his daughter has been abducted, sounds either like they've mislaid her like a bunch of keys (how careless - now where do you remember last seeing her?) or are talking about someone who has died.

We have reached a new longer- term phase in the search for Madeleine and we have reviewed how effective our Fund has been in pursuing its objectives.
