"The situation Madeleine finds herself in" Not direct quote, don't think Because I've always find that disturbing, did she pay the ultimate price for not sleeping May 2nd/3rd? Its like she had done the wrong? And of course she hadn't - poor girl

I think Gerry is talking like a politician. Not sure, as I'm not a native English speaker, but this sentence looks more like something a politician might say. Either way, it was a terrible choice of words for a grieving father, imo.

What I'm trying to say is that it wasn;t Madeleine;s fault she was left alone, it wasn't her fault if she was "abducted", neither was it her fault if she had an accident nor was it her fault one of her parents lashed out at her, deliberately or otherwise, nor her fault at being sedated (if true). The situation she finds herself in - sorry reread that sentance
