Hello, I really do not know where to start and what to say. I only know I wanted a SPECIAL place for you, my fellow bloggers.
Madeleine, brought us all together, a group of people with the biggest hearts and so much love.
I realise I have confused some over my gender , a message left on TEXTUSA wishing me well, once I have sorted my sex out.
I had realised in the past some thought of me as male and others female, my name only adding to the confusion.
This page is not about Madeleine or myself, this page is for you and today I asked Pam if she thought it would be alright for me to post your good wishes on my blog.
I have not been a member of a forum for a very long time, I therefore am without access and was unable to answer you. I did not want the time to pass without you knowing how much I appreciate every single one of you.
Pam has very kindly brought your messages over to me and with your permission I would like to place them here.
I would also like to mention Pams new blog which is about creating Breast cancer awareness. I have no idea to most of your genders either, whether you are male or female is of little importance to me, BUT what is important is the fact that BOTH men and women can have breast cancer.
It is also not true that women under forty do not have breast cancer. I know young women in their twenties and one who is only eighteeen who has breast cancer.
Please everyone, if this is not possible on the NHS make an appointment for a Private consultation and have a yearly mammogram….it is not a waste of money and could save your life.
If I may ask one favour of you, add Pams link to your twitter page and give her a tweet each day and help her through you to reach as many women as possible….lets all become more aware of our bodies and this dreadful disease that if not caught in time is a killer…..leaving small children without mothers and husbands without wives.

Our very well respected and well loved poster IRONSIDE is ill.
She now has a new fight on her hands, as well as the fight for Madeleine.
She has been diagnosed with Metastasis Breast Cancer. She was thought to be clear but it has come back. The cancer is now advanced grade IV.
Ironside would appreciate anyone who has suffered this kind of cancer, to give her all of the information that they can about it.

.I’m really sorry to hear this – Ironside as we all know has been and is one of the most tireless fighters for justice for Madeleine. I’m sure she’ll face her own health battle with equal spirit and tenacity.
I’m afraid I have no knowledge of cancer that’s likely to be of use to her, but I sincerely hope someone else has, maybe someone who has fought this particular battle herself or knows of someone else who has. I have a friend battling metastatic ovarian cancer at the moment; so unfair that these diseases seem to strike so randomly and unexpectedly. But my friend is optimistic and says having been through treatment once she is in some ways better prepared for the battle to come.
My very best wishes to Ironside. .

.OMG that doesn’t sound good. I’m sure she will get the right advise.
Over the years we know a lot more about this horrible desease and the chances to win this battle are increased a lot. Next to the regular medical treatment, there are things you can do yourself.
The following story is maybe encouraging:
A friend of mine (he was about 25 of age then) was diagnosed with a metastatic melanoma (because it was shown in his blood an lymph nodes) One of the most vicious deadly forms of cancer. It already spread through his body. In fact, at that age that young man, just became father of a little girl, got a death sentence. There wasn’t a lot doctors could do for him at that stage.
He did the only thing what was in his power: his will to survive and he followed a diet with a lot of fat fish (every day) and keeping his body (citric)acid as high as possible. Surprising all doctors, he survived.
It is more than 10 years ago now.

I would recommend –
Eating Sprouted Alfalfa seeds. You can buy them in health food shops or if she could make or if somebody could make some for her it’s quite simple. Instructions on how to do it here

There is info quite widely available about their cancer fighting properties. Other sprouts are good too, but latest research says alfalfa is most “anti-cancer”
Also if she could take turmeric with either some warm water or even better some warm milk at the END of every day. It’s best taken when stomach is empty and when the stomach can digest it. You need to add about 1/4 – 1/2 a table spoon to about a half a cup of liquid. It’s strong, but you get used to it. This is an old Ayurvedic cure. Turmeric has too many health benefits to list!
If she has a juicer and can have fresh veg juices – particularly green juice – that too would be great.
If she can go out in the sun a little every day that would also help her.
I’ve listed things which are natural and will not affect any other drugs/chemo/radiotherapy she may be having in any way.

I have a friend who has metastatic breast cancer, it has spread to her liver and her bones. She was diagnosed 3 years ago. She knows it’s incurable but it is treatable. She goes to the gym regularly and her philosophy is fit mind, fit body! She has 5 children, the youngest being 7. I know everyone deals with these situations differently and I have heard many people say how you deal with it can have an effect on the outcome. She is always positive and in her words she gets on with it. When she told me I was the one who was crying and I fell apart, she was laughing and joking.
I don’t know the in’s and out’s of my friends treatments, I know she has had 5 courses of chemo and has to take steroids. If you need any more info, anything specific just ask and I will find out for you.
Stay positive, and fight it all the way, don’t let it beat you! xx

..to Ironside….where there’s LIFE there’s HOPE…..I Hope you get well soon…..the doctors said my grandaughter would be would be blind and brain damaged …that’s if she lived….my daughter was offered a termination because of illness..but they both survived and littlun is perfetly fine and normal….her middle name is Hope…..

.When my friend was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I read a lot online about cancer and one thing was mentioned many times – that there is a lot of progress being made in treatments for the various types of cancer, including cancer that has come back, and that in many cases it can be looked on as a long-term, chronic condition, which needs treatment to keep it under control. Not curable, just as something like diabetes is not curable, but definitely treatable.
Another thing that was often pointed out – that the cancer survival rates given are based on people whose cancer was diagnosed and treatment started several years ago when a lot of the drugs now standard weren’t available or only available to those in clinical trials. So those survival rates are pretty much out of date by the time they’re published, and people starting treatment for their cancer now have more options for treatment and more effective drugs and thus a better prognosis than those starting treatment even a few years ago.

My aunt was diagnosed with myeloma in her early 50s 8 years ago. When I read about the condition on the internet I was very pessimistic as survival rates were poor. However, after some very gruelling treatment ( involving high doses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant), my aunt is still going strong. Cancer treatment is improving all the time and more and more victims are living longer and with a good quality of life, even when their cancers are classed as ‘incurable’, as my aunt’s was..

I myself am trialling a breast cancer drug folowing my treatment, which I hope will help future sufferers if not myself. The message from me is that there are drugs being trialed and new treatments coming along all the time, so never give up..

Good luck with your treatment, LJC. I would add that there is a lot of funding being allocated to research and we have some of the best research facilities in the world, in my opinion. London Imperial, for instance, has a world-wide reputation as a centre of excellence and there are several more prestigious research facilities just in the London area. .

.I haven’t posted here for ages, have been through a resignation phase and feeling justice for Maddie was never going to arrive. However, have been reading the posts and this one I couldn’t ignore.
My heart goes out to Ironside. My message is please don’t give up! With my own battle with this disease I read everything I could about it and there are some amazing cures and I read those to keep my spirits up. There are supplements and methods that have incredible results and even at very late stages cancer has disappeared.
Bill Henderson is American and writes in that style but he has so much information on the latest breakthroughs and has written books. He has an interesting web page: beatcancerathome.com. There is also Ralph Moss who has a lot of information. I saw Dr.Etienne Callebout in London, he is fantastic. There is also the Dove Clinic in Surrey, where they use an alternative chemotherapy which is non toxic. I am certainly not saying avoid conventional methods but it’s also good to look at the alternatives as well, sometimes they are an excellent back up..

Very sorry to hear this Ironside. Be strong stay positive and you can beat this. My niece was diagnosed with same two years ago. She is now in remission after a year of chemo. At this moment in time i have another niece who has been diagnosed with same so she is fighting it to.

I, too, am a survivor of this menace called cancer. In my case it was a particularly virulent cervical cancer, diagnosed 8 months after my youngest child was born and she is now 15 years old. I know this is not the same thing at all, but tell you this in the hope that it will give you both hope and encouragement. We are all aware that cancer treatments can be unpleasant, but keep at it, dear IRONSIDE, the benefits will be so worthwhile.

Ironside, keep fighting. I have never had cancer, but I’ve a cousin who was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic adenocarcinoma with extensive liver involvement and is alive, seems absolutely well, and so far as we know, cancer-free eight years after diagnosis.
It’s almost as if cancer is not the same disease it was a generation ago; so many people are being successfully treated and enjoying years of life after extensive lymph node involvement or recurrence is discovered.
I saw Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former presidential candidate John, on television a few weeks ago, and she said she is feeling great. She was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and learnt in early 2007 that she had a recurrence. She looked absolutely well, and so far as I could tell the biggest problem she’s got is that she’s still not made up her mind to divorce that world-class tw*t she’s married to.
I will pray for you every day. I do not know how long it will be before we finally learn what happened to poor little Maddie, but however long it is, I expect you will be here to share in the feeling of peace we will all have when we finally learn that she has been found and can be laid properly to rest.

Dan, a thousand apologies for the little mix up over your gender , I hope you can forgive me. You have been like a rock to me in the past, with advice over my health and trying to steer me towards trying alternative treatments. It was back then in 2008 that I first thought you were a woman, with your very warm and caring posts. I should have trusted my first instincts, as I was right all along. But when I saw several posts claiming you were a man and your girlfriend was Mercedes, it had me convinced, I have to say.
I am absolutely devastated to learn about your condition. Cancer has played a big part in my family all my life and I can honestly say that the more positive a person you are, the better the chance you have of fighting it. I still have an aunt who was given 6 months to live 20 years ago and she is still showing Mr C the door. She refused to have surgery. It is very important that you surround yourself with positive people and do everything you can to inject as much laughter into your life as possible. If you don’t believe me watch the film Patch Adams. Laughter is a very precious medicine that no one can bottle and we can never get enough of.

I am a cancer person, diagnosed 11 years ago with extensive breast cancer. A radical mastectomy showed the critter had wormed it’s way into lymph nodes in chest wall, throat as well as armpit. So pretty damned lowsy. The oncologist gave me less than 50% at surviving more than 5 years.
And, that word survive really got to me. I wanted to live, not survive so I started to research. Hadn’t got a computer so used the library and read up on as much as possible.
Came to the conclusion, that whilst cancer is part of me gone off the rails that it was still me, so I had to rid myself of it alongside surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and long term drugs. That was the medics part. Mine was to stay positive. eat all my broccoli and tomatoes and dring a glass of Chilean Cab Sauv every day. To relax more, to visualize the nasty bit of me and encourage it to p@^^ off, to laugh more, to throw away some inhibitions and to let the love of others bathe me with a warm glow.
It still could get me in the end, but tell you what Ironside, the last 11 years have been so bloody precious and even the bad days have been good.
My prayers are with you. I don’t know if you have a faith but if you have give it a real chance.

I can’t give you any good inside advice, Ironside, except maybe this study from years ago (and I have to admit it might even be 30 years ).
A group interested in alternative medicine looked into cases of “miracle cures”. As you know there are always and everywhere cases where doctors say there was no hope and then the disease stops or completely disappears. So they went over hundreds and hundreds of cases and finally ended up with 45 or 50 well documented cancer cases.
Of course from such a small group no significant scientific deduction could be made. But there was one common trait in all these patients. When they where told it was beyond hope -don’t forget 30 years ago there were much less treatments available- they all threw their head in the wind and said (paraphrased of course) I won’t be beat by cancer.
There was one very meek woman who never had spoken against anyone in here life, who said to the doctor: “what you tell me I’m gonna die,??? I’ll show you”!! She went to research all kind of treatments and was 8 years later alive and well.
There was one young man with an advanced stage of oesophageal cancer who said “I can have cancer, cancer can’t have me”. He meant it more to be like “cancer is not going to ruin my life, I’ll go out with a bang”. He went to Tahiti and a year ago was still alive.
Again it is all not scientific, but in each of these cases the refusal to lay down the sword seemed to have played a role in the cure/survival. I wish you, and those around you, that strength!

P.S. You may get a laugh out of this. I participated in a fund-raising walk for breast cancer this spring, and there was a woman there wearing a pink tee-shirt that said, “Of course they’re false. My real ones tried to kill me.” I said to myself, “I’ve got to get to know someone with that much spunk.” I went over and introduced myself. She was a 20-year survivor of a double mastectomy with positive lymph nodes from both axillary areas. Looked fit and fine and finished much faster than I did.

Some of us are confused about your gender Ironside and I don’t think it is entirely our own fault.
You have written me PMs in the past which were definitely supposed to be from a man, I am no idiot but wonder why people do this.
I was also totally amazed to see reference to a ‘rare metastatic breast cancer’. ANY cancer which moves beyond its original site has metastasized, and sadly it is anything but rare. Breast cancer which has become metastatic is simply advanced breast cancer. That’s another reason that this entire episode has left me scratching my head.

First I am no longer Ironside, my name is Dani. I think the reason we all have a Nick is for our identity to be kept apart from the thoughts we blog about…otherwise we would all be writing our names and addresses and posting our family photos on the Internet including the pet dog.
The McCann case has split people apart we all have enemies ,very unpleasant people who wish us harm for not believing the McCanns version of events. I posted as Ironside and yes I know there were those who have assumed I was male and I did not say anything to change their opinion, those who thought I was female the same.
(I do know of posters who wish to be known as female but are in fact male and visa versa. I have no problem with this, after all we are strangers and will never meet and people are FREE to do as they wish…ones PRIVATE life is just that ,private)
There are many who post and I have no idea even today whether they be male or female, I am not curious by nature and only a fool would discuss too much about their private life on the Internet. Lets just say for arguments sake I felt safer people thinking I was male.
Anyway my gender is not why I have suddenly revealed the fact I have cancer. I have had cancer for two years now and only four people knew and have supported me from almost the beginning on the Internet..( I do hope this is not going to become an issue.)
I was asked by someone I have great respect for, if I would go public to help create Cancer awareness amongst women…I agreed, if not you would be none the wiser..However, I would still not be posting as Ironside.
With regards to my case that has left you scratching your head. My case is not only rare ,it is unique.( You are correct when you say any cancer that spreads is known as metastasized)
BUT
It appears I am the first woman to have breast cancer but not in the breast, the tumours were found in my stomach and colon …my breasts were clear as were all lymph nodes.
The cancer has now metastasized to the Peritoneal another strange place for BC to spread to.
It is not only you left scratching your head but my Doctors also, they are treating my case the best way they can but everything is trial and error.
There has been suggestion of removing both breasts and lymph nodes BUT the cancer ,although they KNOW it is there ,is not showing up.

.Dani don’t know what to say – words seem so inadequate. My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope you can take some comfort from the good wishes of your forum friends.
My friend was diagnosed with breast cancer over 14 years ago and I went with her for the result. When she was told the tumour was malignant I cried and she was strong. I felt dreadful that I couldn’t control my tears and we chuckle about that now. She knows I’m a total wreck!

When Dani gets her teeth into something she never lets go. I know you understand chemotherapy is tough and drains what little amount of energy you have. I would for the moment like Dani to use that energy in fighting her disease and my wife is a fighter.
I also believe with the support she has behind her you will pull her through.

It has just gone 5.30 am and I am slowly preparing myself for the journey to the Hospital. The trip takes one hour, no need for a blood test today as I did this last treatment… a ‘SPECIAL’ test …I am half way through chemo so maybe this is to see the effect, anyway will find out soon enough. No blood test means I can have a coffee this morning, (,Stephan is preparing this now,he is so noisy in the kitchen, just as well we do not have neighbours lol)
I am reading your messages of support and will take them with me in my heart today. I am glad I have placed them here, here you are in my home and you bring me such comfort.

Mum 21, you are correct we will never see eye to eye on what happened to little Madeleine. But this blog is not about Madeleine it is also not about me and my cancer.
This blog is now linked to PAMALAMS WORLD…and Pam through her blog is trying to create Breast Cancer awareness, the two cancers Pagets and IBC not known to many women until it is too late. The symptons are not lumps or bumps but can look like a small insect bite or dry rash…even GPs have missed this killer disease and placed patients on drugs for something unrelated. TWO MONTHS is a long time for an aggresive cancer to have grown, by now it will be in your lymph nodes.
Mum 21, I ask you to forget our differences as you have surely done by wishing me your kind get well wishes.
AND I ask you to send Pams link to every woman you know so they may have knowledge of these rare cancers….you could save a life.

Both could not be further from the truth. I was amused to see the little spat between MORAIS and myself described as HANDBAGS at dawn. I guess thats just what it was.
However, neither lost or won…I chose to no longer post side by side with someone I found PATRONIZING and full of her own self importance. MORAIS has now blocked those who have supported me on Twitter anf Facebook….. How very MATURE of her AND apart from her childish prank using her AMAZING talent as a film producer makes a childish movie that she later quickly removed….. How wise of her.
Today, I had my fourth session of chemo and by tomorrow shall be in its depths of side effects. I apologize if in the next few days I do not answer…. but thank you once more for all of your support.

They are now living normal and exciting life by making the most of it.
