Subject: Investigation into the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

Within the scope of the investigation identified above into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann it has become necessary to proceed to analyse the telephone traffic information of the McCann couple and the friends who were on holiday with them at the Ocean Club, Praia da Luz.

Therefore, given the urgent nature of the current investigation I suggest that the following be requested from the competent legal authorities as quickly as possible:

1. The 3 national mobile telephone operators (TMN, Vodaphone and Optimus) be requested to provide digital support (CD or DVD) with the complete listings of telephone traffic referring to the calls received and made during the period of time from 28th April 2007 t0 9th September 2007 including mobile phone location and trace back, as well as roaming calls and SMS and MMS messages and their respective contents for the following phone numbers:

- 00447786986188 Gerald McCann
- 00447903108397 Kate Healy
- 00447748844837 David Payne
- 00447796272586 Fiona Payne
- 00447790327853 Diane Webster
- 00447713258795 Russell O’Brien
- 00447808584191 Jane Tanner
- 00447771591456 Matthew Oldfield
- 00447818520047 – telephone number that has not yet been identified, which on 2nd May 2007 sent 14 written SMS messages to Gerald McCann and another 4 on the day following Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

2. The telephone operator TMN should be asked for digital support (CD or DVD) with the complete telephone traffic listing referring to calls received and made during the period between 20.00 on 3rd May 2007 and 12.00 on 4th May 2007 including mobile phone location and trace back, as well as calls in roaming and SNS and MMS messages and their respective contents, for the following mobile numbers:

- 969787045 - belonging to the reception of the Ocean Club.
- 964098114 - belonging to the manager of the Ocean Club
- 962093051 - belonging to the Lagos GNR station

3. 3. The telephone operator Portugal Telecom should be asked for digital support (CD or DVD) with the complete telephone traffic listing referring to calls received and made during the period between 20.00 on 3rd May 2007 and 12.00 on 4th May 2007 including mobile phone location and trace back, as well as calls in roaming and SNS and MMS messages and their respective contents, for the following fixed lines:

- 282771000 - belonging to the reception of the Ocean Club
- 282762809 - belonging to the Lagos GNR station

In the same way I suggest that the competent legal authorities be asked for authorisation to proceed with the analysis of the content of the hard disk of the portable computer, Sony, model Vaio, hired and used by the arguido Gerald McCann after the disappearance of his daughter. The computer was voluntarily handed into this police force by its owner, so that we could carry out the necessary examinations.

I submit this request for your consideration.

Signed

Inspector Ricardo Paiva
