In October, 24 Horas famously printed a report that Gerry wasn't Maddie's biological father. The implications, with DNA, being huge. Clarence Mitchell said: "Due to further unwarranted, unsubstantiated and totally inaccurate speculation in the Portuguese press today, Gerry and Kate McCann and their lawyers have authorised me to issue the following statement. "For the record, Gerry is the biological father of his daughter Madeleine. A newspaper report in the 24 Horas newspaper suggesting otherwise is nothing short of lies. It is indeed an absolute fabrication." 24 Horas editor Luis Fontes said his story was confirmed by Portuguese and British police insiders. "It’s true," he said. "Our sources are rock solid. If they think they can sue us, bring it on." - So, did the McCanns and their expensively assembled team of top lawyers sue 24 Horas for printing 'lies' and 'fabrication'? You could hear a pin drop! It was even claimed that her biological father had taken her. One of the posters on this forum whose sister lives out there reported this too. But why would it be common knowledge? Why would people talk about that? They were there on holiday, so I don't get why the locals would know about that. The McCanns have the finest lawyers available to them and not even a threat was issued. Yet they've issued threats for comparatively trivial things in the past.
