Trip down memory lane...

In October, 24 Horas famously printed a report that Gerry wasn't Maddie's biological father. The implications, with DNA, being huge.

Clarence Mitchell said: "Due to further unwarranted, unsubstantiated and totally inaccurate speculation in the Portuguese press today, Gerry and Kate McCann and their lawyers have authorised me to issue the following statement.

"For the record, Gerry is the biological father of his daughter Madeleine. A newspaper report in the 24 Horas newspaper suggesting otherwise is nothing short of lies. It is indeed an absolute fabrication."

24 Horas editor Luis Fontes said his story was confirmed by Portuguese and British police insiders. "It’s true," he said. "Our sources are rock solid. If they think they can sue us, bring it on."

- So, did the McCanns and their expensively assembled team of top lawyers sue 24 Horas for printing 'lies' and 'fabrication'?

You could hear a pin drop!

Without meaning to stick up for the McCanns, don't you think they might just be waiting for a more appropriate time?

Yes, apparently it was common knowledge at the time of Maddie's disappearance in PDL that Gerry wasn't the biological father. It was even claimed that her biological father had taken her. One of the posters on this forum whose sister lives out there reported this too.

Stupid thing to deny when it's provable. But why would it be common knowledge? Why would people talk about that? They were there on holiday, so I don't get why the locals would know about that. I don't get THAT friendly with the locals when I go on holiday.

Possibly, the point is 24 Horas was very bold, inviting the McCanns to sue them. The McCanns have the finest lawyers available to them and not even a threat was issued. Yet they've issued threats for comparatively trivial things in the past.

Very telling IMO

If they were innocent and wanted to shut people up they would make a stand of at least starting proceedings against one party as a warning to others.

Odd, if Gerry wasn't M's biological father, he was certainly father to the twins - he looks like them very much.

Madeleine looks like the twins and Kate, but I don't see a resemblance to her father - not that this necessarily means much! I doubt people would notice much of my dad in my sister. I can totally believe it, though, and I take on board the whole suing thing with 24 Horas. Very sus.

Is 24 Horas still in business? I haven't seen any quotes from them in a while.

We've been told about their tests on the car to 'prove' there was nothing there.

We've been told about tests on Kate's hair and the twins' hair to 'prove' they weren't drugged.

Why stop there? Why no test to prove that G is the biological father?

I am certain, that the police have the answer.
And as far as the rest of us....it's none of our business...it's a private matter, that has no relevance to the case.
