Just to clarify the difference between the official files and the DVD:

1 - It may be that some documentation that is mentioned in the official investigation files is not included in the DVD (either for lapse, technical reasons or others) but may actually be available to the public (in person) at the court of Portimao (or Faro - can't remember which).

2 - There is other documentation that is mentioned in the official investigation file, that is not included in the DVD and will not be available to public consultation at the court of Portimao (or Faro - can't remember which). This would information that is sensitive to the privacy of individuals (for example the list of paedophiles etc.).

There are many pages that are 'Officially' missing from the files.
(eg.Sensitive info from witnesses and their statements regarding pedophile interviews
Analaysis of first & second round of statements
Holidaymakers pictures)

There are statements that are referred to but cannot be found in files.

Considering the different hypotheses raised by the disappearance of the girl, Madeleine McCann, information relating to possible modes of transport/escape by territorial means (roads and railways), maritime and air routes was collected and analysed, which is included in this Apenso, no positive result having been found at the present moment.

Equally, information/photographs delivered by individuals who were on holiday in the area of the occurrence of events and obtained by this police force from some hotel establishments was explored, which, after being visualised, did not lead to any element pertinent to the case.

It is hereby consigned that some of the information incorporated in this Apenso has associated material in digital format and considering its sensitivity and preservation, it has been stored, duly identified in relation to the respective locations, in a box designated for this purpose, thereby constituting an annex to this Apenso.

At about 23.30 a white fair haired man aged about 30, one of the friends of the McCann group was seen by Valerie Kerr and her family when he asked them if they had seen Madeleine. The DVD that was released to journalists was not the complete works.

In addition to the files that the PJ specifically indicated were not included, there are many instances of cover sheets without their contents. 

A large body of work was not included, if you look at correspondence reference numbers, the original is often missing and there would appear to be many replies which must have been made and sent but which cannot be found

The volume numbering of the Apensos and Outros Apensos is strange, suggesting that there may have been more volumes.  See the Table of Contents in the Files Section.

 References to 11 or 12 thousand pages not having been included on the DVD, but not from reliable source.

One other thing that is witheld is an enveloppe with ± 80 photocopied pages of Kate's diary.

I would give a great deal to go through EVERYTHING that was sent from the FSS - emails, reports (preliminary or otherwise), everything.

I know I have been banging on about this for months, but I simply cannot believe that the FSS IGNORED Paulo Rebelo's specific request in a memorandum sent, I believe in October 2007 soon after he took over the investigation, to examine the hairs in the hire car for signs of proximal root banding that would indicate they came from a dead person.

Perhaps the FSS tried and could not do it for some reason (split ends won't do; you need hair from nearer the root, though it need not have the root attached). But the file is simply silent on that whole aspect of the case, and in my opinion, it's crucial.

Even if the minute amounts of LCN DNA in the car could have been proven to have come from Maddie, there still might be the possibility of secondary transfer from something belonging to her. But a hair with proximal banding indicating that it came from the head of someone who was dead would have been devastating evidence if it had been subjected to further testing and it had been found that the mitochondrial DNA of the hair matched Kate McCann's. Moreover, if the hairs had been tested and none showed signs of being "corpse hairs," I think in fairness to the McCanns that should have been reported also.

I cannot imagine any reputable laboratory simply ignoring this and not mentioning it in a report. I simply cannot.

Portimao, PORTUGAL: An unidentified second foreign couple is driven by police officers as they arrive at the headquarters of criminal police in Portimao, in the southern province of Algarve 10 May 2007. Portuguese police were today searching for two men and one woman suspected in the disappearance of the three-year-old in the southern Algarve region, newspapers reported.

 Mrs McCann leads villagers and holidaymakers in prayer at the local church in Praia da Luz one week after Madeleine's disappearance.
