I will add 'issues' from memory and expand on them if required.

The activity sheet does not 'match' with statements.

eg.

1)  Monday shows as mini tennis but Georgina claims Madeleine's group played on Tuesday morning (she was non specific about remembering Madeleine being there and may have just been referring to the schedule).

Tennis records show it was Tuesday.  The other group played Thursday morning. (BOD's group)

2)  Mini dance every day between 4.30pm and 5 is not mentioned (except by BOD) as this was the time used to walk to the tapas for high tea

3) (this one is, maybe, a little confusing)

The diagram of events for the creche (basically a timeline graph) have blue and beige coloured blocks which I have always thought represented the beach times and the change of mini sail because of the  rain on Wednesday.

What I now believe is that these blocks were changed by...or because of Catrinona's statement leaving them questionable.

She claims to have taken the children to the beach for an hour on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon (3.30pm-4.30pm) and changed the Wednesday morning mini sail to Thursday (which is when she claims she took them.)

Firstly, the diagram of Events is missing for Thursday morning (when they were supposedly taken for mini sail) and her statement on May 10th about the three beach visits only shows she said the Tuesday and Wednesday visit on both the Tuesday and Wednesday D of E and no reference to Thursdays visit (which is in her statement)

4)  This led me to believe the possibility that there was NO mini sail which seemed even more apparent when I discovered there was only an informal statement by Alice Stanley and Chris Unsworth and, considering as they were intructors, they were among the last people to see Madeleine that day and should have been asked (officially) whether  there was anyone suspicious.  I wonder whether the reason they were not officially interviewed is because there WAS NO mini sail with Madeleine that morning (Thursday) and therefore their statement would not be worthy of recording officially.

5) Tuesday 2.30pm -3030pm claims 'Ice cream trip'.  After reading travel reports this trip was apparently a favourite with guests (they probably had to pay extra) and I have always imagined it was down at the beach if the beach trip 3.0-4.30pm followed.

Catriona only claims the beach trip was for 1 hour.

The ice cream trip seems odd to me as this is when (Tuesday) the McCanns claim to have visited the beach and had 5 ice creams returning at 2.30pm to the creche in time for Madeleine to return for an ice cream. (same drop off time as ROB)

I was always under the illusion (but I cannot place from where) that there were 3 trips to the beach.

If you look at the activity sheet it shows Wednesday (when Catriona claims a beach trip for an hour) to be Olympics grass time and the third beach trip was scheduled for Friday (after Madeleine had disappeared).

The above is from memory (and/or my opinion added) so please advise of any mistakes.

Another creche 'issue' that I have not yet scrutinised is that, the nappy bag they used, when seen sideways, was quite large. There are pictures of both Gerry and Kate taking the twins to the creche and returning without the bag,

If only one of them picked up the twins it would be difficult to manage them both with the bag. If only one of them picked up Madeleine AND the twins it would be extremely difficult.

Catriona Baker Rogatory Statement
"....Mark Warner maintained a register to all the activities in which the children participated. It functioned as a calendar, referring hour by hour, to what the children were doing. I believe that the Portuguese police collected the sign-in/out sheets and the registry of activities immediately on the day following the disappearance. I would say that Madeleine adored her family; she seemed happy as they did in the club.

During the week which Madeleine stayed in the club there were three events organized that included a trip to the beach. One of these events took place on Thursday in the morning, as referred to previously. Another of these events consisted of a trip to the beach with "hula hoops", shovels and buckets, etc, and the other trip to the beach was in order to eat ice cream. Together, the trips to the beach took place in the afternoon but I cannot state precisely which days. There should be a recording of this in the Mark Warner registers.

Description and result of diligence

Today (10 May 07), accompanied by Joao Barreiras and Catriona Baker, the 'nanny' responsible for the missing minor, retraced the places and times at which they left the resort area to go to Praia da Luz. A photographic report [of this journey] is attached:
- We were told by Catriona that the only days they went to the beach were Tuesday afternoon (1 May 2007) between 15:30 and 16:30, on Wednesday (the next day) at the same time and on Thursday between 10 and 11 o'clock (see attached table [of creche activities]).

- The route taken was as follows:

1. The parents left the children at "Baby Club", Mark Warner, situated next to the principal reception and which is open 24 hours;
2. then Catriona, with Madeleine and 4 or 5 more children, walked toward the beach. The distance is about 100 metres but not in a straight line;
3. she was always in front with the children behind linked together in a "summy snake" (the object being to form a snake so that the children stayed together in Indian file);
4. leaving the "Baby Club" they descended the stairs to the principal reception, through the front-entrance and crossed Rua Direita (the main street in Praia da Luz) heading for Beco das Palmeiras [passageway: called 'alley of palm trees'];
5. then they made a right towards Beco do Nordeste [passageway: called 'northeast alley'] after which they made a left and went down a stairway next to a property called "Casa Ortiga", that has the number 17;
6. at the bottom of the steps is Travessa das Redes [another street];
7. crossing this they descended alongside the parking lot towards the esplanade that runs the length of the beach;
8. after reaching the beach they went along the boardwalk to an area where there was a red awning and several thatched sunshades;

- On the first two days the children played and did activities in the sand. On the Thursday they went sailing next to the beach.
- On that day they sailed in a small yellow "catamaran";
- Alice Standley accompanied the children on the route and on the boat. Three children sailed with her at one time;

- Chris Unswork transported the children in a red amphibious boat (life-saving boat) until the boat reached the open sea, and, a few minutes later, returned them to the beach to pick up three other children from the group;

- All said that the children did not meet anyone else during their time at the beach, nor during the trip to it.
- All said that they saw no-one suspicious watching the children nor in the vicinity.
- Catriona said she noticed nothing abnormal [unusual] along the route either when going to the beach or when returning to the resort area.

Updated translation from Ines
http://themaddiecasefiles.com/post1458.html#p1458
 Volume II, pages 374 to 376—Witness statement of Emma Louise Wilding 2007.05.07

She provides a statement because she works at the Mini Club within the Ocean Club tourist complex at Praia da Luz in Lagos.

She states that she does not speak Portuguese and is accompanied by an interpreter, Robert Murat, residing at Casa Liliana, Rua do Ramalhete at Praia da Luz in Lagos, phone xxxxxx. She has been working as an Infants’ teacher for close to 4 years and has specific qualifications for the job that are more than just the obligatory schooling.

She arrived in Portugal on March 22/07 and as from that date she has been working as an Infants’ teacher at the Ocean Club. She has been working at the Mini Club for children between 3-5 years of age since April 29.

Before coming to Portugal she worked at a Pre-school called “Primary Steps Nursery” as an Infants’ teacher. Before coming to Portugal she knew no Portuguese people and since she arrived she has met a few Portuguese who work within the complex. Since she arrived from England nobody has questioned her about the operation of the Ocean Club nor of the Mini Club nor about Madelede (sic).

When questioned she states that she knows Madelede’s (sic) parents because although Madeleine is not in her group, she frequently speaks to her parents, and finds their concerns and interests normal and typical of parents.

When questioned she states that there are parents that leave their respective children during the whole day and every day at the clubs, and that this is normal within British culture. With respect to Madeleine, she states that she spent most of her time at the Mini Club. The children began arriving at 0900 until 1230 when their respective parents collected them for lunch, and returned at 1430 until 1645 when the Infants’ teachers took the children to eat something appropriate for their age at the Tapas restaurant. Most of the parents met their respective children here, and the children then remained in their parents’ care.

When questioned she states that on May 3, 2007 it was the father that took Madeleine, as was customary, between 0900 and 0930; she remembers that she just said “hello” to him, because as Madelede (sic) did not belong to her group she did not talk to him very much.

In any case she saw Madeleine and her father and nothing seemed abnormal or unusual.

She is not sure whether during the morning Madeleine’s group had outdoor activities, mainly at the pool; she does remember that around 1230 Madelew’s (sic) father went to fetch her for lunch.

When questioned, she states that on Wednesday May 2, her group and Madeleine’s group went to the beach, but she is not sure if Madeleine was in the group or not, and does not remember having seen anybody specifically taking direct and close-up photographs of the children.

She remembers that during the afternoon of May 3 Madeleine was at the Mini Club, but she does not remember at what time she arrived, and if on that day Madeleine accompanied the other children at 1645 as was customary.

She is also not sure whether her parents joined her during the snack, as was customary.

During this period of time she did not notice anybody or anything out of the ordinary, as her attention was wholly focused on the children.

That night, at around 2200 she learned that Madeleine had disappeared, and together with her colleagues she helped look for her.

As regards Madeleine, she did not spent much time with her because she was not in her group; she did not know her well, but Madeleine appeared to be somewhat shy, this was noticeable the first days. Since she met her, she noticed nothing abnormal in any aspect that would point to Madeleine being a child that was out of the ordinary.

As regards the disappearance itself, she states that she was shocked, as it was the first time such a thing had happened.

She knows nothing more about this matter that would be of interest for the case.

She says nothing further. After having read the document and found it to be satisfactory, she signs it.

There are many discrepancies revolving around the Activity Sheet.

Rather than post all the details that can be viewed in the following link I have placed the days/times into a summary for easier comparison, followed by some questions.

Kirsty Louise Maryan

relative to the facts of the investigation the witness clarifies that in her daily schedule mentioned she only, on one occasion, had contact with Madeleine McCann, for about 30 minutes 'who was treated as Maddie' in that she had to substitute for her colleague, who, at that time, was responsible for the group whose name is Emma, (?) as she had to go to the Tapas to take care of the refreshments of Madeleine's group. For this, the deponent had the charge of accompanying that group towards the beach until the MiniClub where they stayed for a few minutes, and from where they left for the restaurant, mentioned above, in order to have dinner. She clarifies that when Madeleine ate her food, her parents were close and accompanied her;

Lindsay Johnson
http://madeleinemccann.aimoo.com/Creche-Records-Timeline/Nanny-Info-Statements-Highlighted-1-930240.html

The Mini Club began at 09.00, making a break for lunch between 12.30 and 14.30 when the afternoon session would begin, lasting until 17.30. She adds that from 19.30 the resort crèche offers a complementary “dinner” service which ended at 23.30, which had an additional cost, the parents could also request another babysitting service that did not have defined hours but that would be agreed upon between the parents and the witness.

It is mentioned by the witness that during the period of time that the children were at the crèche they would be busy with different activities that could take place inside the installations of the resort, but which could also take place outside the resort, mainly on the beach, accompanied by employees from the tourist complex.

Accordingly, the witness states that on a date she cannot remember, but that it had been last week, Madeleine participated in a boat trip organised by the crèche together with other children from the Mini Club, accompanied by the employees (nannies) mentioned above and by the respective aquatic sports instructor whose name she cannot remember.

When asked, the witness states that Madeleine McCann was accompanied by her parents, Kate and Gerald McCann and that they were staying in apartment G5 A of the tourist resort.

Why did Catriona (for the Diagram of Events page 88) claim only 3.30pm to 4.30 pm at the beach for Tuesday when there was an ice cream trip at the beach from 2.30pm-3.30pm meaning the trip was for two hours and not one hour as claimed.

Why did Catriona claim to have visited the beach for hula hoops on Wednesday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm when the Activity sheet claims it was Olympics grass time.

If there were three trips to the beach as Catriona stated, was Friday 11.00-12.00 included (for sand sculptures/ beach play) after Madeleine had disappeared?

Why was mini tennis on Monday when Georgina and tennis records claim it was Tuesday?

Why no mention of mini dance except by BOD? Wasn't this during the time they were supposed to be going to the tapas for high tea?

Why do I find it 'suspicious' that Gerry and Kate drop Madeleine off at the creche on Tuesday after visiting the beach for 5 ice creams, only for Madeleine to immediately return for more ice creams on the trip (from what I understand it was a trip paid separately though I cannot give link or confirm). Regardless they should have know she was scheduled for the Ice Cream Trip.

Those are just a few of the questions regarding the Activity sheet.

The absence of any crafts from the creche hanging in their apartment or released in the files seems odd to me.

Has it ever been acknowledged that the activity sheet was a guideline or was it followed by the nanny according to instructions, if so, why does it differ from the activities we are led to believe happened each day?

If the 'mini sail' was changed (with the arrow) why does it not show that mini tennis' was changed also?

Catriona mentions 'signed sheets' and 'activity register' that were collected by the Portuguese police.

Are these the sign ff sheets for the parents to have signed when their children left the creche room?

Catriona Rogatory

Mark Warner kept a register of all the activities in which the children participated during the sessions. It worked almost like a diary, mentioning what the children had done, hour by hour. I believe that the Portuguese police collected copies of those signed sheets and of the activities’ register on the day after Madeleine’s disappearance.

Bridget O'Donnell

 Our children made friends in the kiddie club and at the drop-off, we would joke about the fact that there were 10 blonde three-year-old girls in the group. They were bound to boss around the two boys.

The children went sailing and swimming, played tennis and learned a dance routine for the end-of-week show. Each morning, our daughter ran ahead of us to get to the kiddie club.

-----------------------------------

Our daughter asked us about the kiddie club that day. She had been looking forward to their dance show that afternoon. Jes and I looked at each other. My first instinct was that we should not be parted from our children. Of course we shouldn't; we should strap them to us and not let them out of our sight, ever again. But then we thought: how are we going to explain this to our daughter? Or how, if we spent the day in the village, would we avoid repeatedly discussing what had happened in front of her as we met people on the streets? What does a good parent do? Keep the children close or take a deep breath and let them go a little, pretend this was the same as any other day?

We walked towards the kiddie club. No one else was there. We felt awful, such terrible parents for even considering the idea. Then we saw, waiting inside, some of the Mark Warner nannies. They had been up most of the night but had still turned up to work that day. They were intelligent, thoughtful young women and we liked and trusted them. The dance show was cancelled, but they wanted to put on a normal day for the children. Our daughter ran inside and started painting. Then, behind us, another set of parents arrived looking equally washed out. Then another, and another. We decided, in the end, to leave them for two hours. We put their bags on the pegs and saw the one labelled "Madeleine". Heads bent, we walked away, into the guilty glare of the morning sun.

--------------------------------

So my heart goes out to them, Gerry and Kate, the couple we remember from our Portuguese holiday. They had a beautiful daughter, Madeleine, who played and danced with ours at the kiddie club. That's who we remember.

Review of Mark Warner Holidays

As for the childcare, well, that was far far above our expectations. We had originally decided that we didnt want to 'dump' her in childcare as afterall, we were all on holiday together however after seeing the activities timetable and meeting the childcare staff we felt that she would love it and we were so right, she had a fantastic time - 3 months later she is still talking about her friend her carer for the week and her sailing instructor.

She spent the mornings in childcare where she met a couple of little friends and together they went mini sailing, played mini tennis, wave jumping, shell collecting, went swimming, played in the secret garden and so very much more.......far more than we could ever have done with her on our own.

We spent our family afternoons making sandcastles on the sandy beach, paddling in the sea and swimming! With the odd ice-cream here and there too of course!

All the children had high tea in the restaurant at 5.30pm - not that children werent welcome at dinner but it made it easier and gave us the chance to have a quiet meal to ourselves - bliss!

Then the children could go to the evening creche from 7pm til 11pm whilst we went for dinner - we had usually picked her up by 10pm - cant cope with late nights anymore. Each child had their own little sleeping bag and lay in there to watch that nights choice of DVD and listen to stories until 'quiet time' or of course they fell asleep.
